The Director's Letter
Dear Reader,
I would like to invite you to read and have a look at all the information which the Workshop staff and I have compiled to help you find out about North East Community Workshop Ltd.
The company was formed and registered with Companies House in March 2013 as a response to an unmet need in Aberdeen for a work-related service for people who have disabling conditions.
It was felt that there was a great need and opportunity to set up something different and we agreed that a Day Service for people to take part in work related tasks was what was required.
I approached Aberdeen Council about our proposal, who were very supportive of the idea, leading to NECW becoming approved providers of Day services for people with disabilities. (Skills and Development)
Lind Westbrook was appointed as The Workshop Manager and we leased 35 Holland St. Aberdeen which we felt was suitable for the proposed new venture; it was a detached building and had good private parking, it contained a good sized day room suitable for training, it had 2 toilets, a kitchen, an office, and a small store room. Access to the building was also good.
It was decided that we would restrict the numbers of people attending to 12 per day with three members of staff, in order to offer a high staff/client ratio, concentrating on quality rather than numbers.
Our aims and objectives have changed recently, having a greater focus on work related skills, so that people who may have the potential to take up opportunities for supported employment can learn transferrable skills.
We would love to speak to anyone who is interested in attending The Workshop.
